This book was required for one of my english classes. We were supposed to take like all these quizzes and stuff on the books and we kind of just… didn’t get around to it, but I guess it’s still being incorporated into the class. Anyway, On Writing is pretty much part memoir and part advice book on writing. I expected more of an instructional sort of thing going into it but it turned out to be a bit more interesting than that.
He talks about his experiences reading and writing while growing up in the first part, and as someone who always enjoyed his books I found it interesting to get that insight. I was pleased to find that when it came to the advice he gave as far as getting out good writing, I agreed with him almost entirely.
All in all, there isn’t much to say about it, but it was enjoyable.
